Standing up against homophobic bullying is the best way to help those people who are being discriminated for being homosexual, lesbian, bisexual or transexual. A person who stands up not only helps the discriminated person but helps the bully to open his eyes and show him that whatever an individuals sexual preference is doesn't mean that he has to make that person feel less, ashamed or degrade him/her because there is nothing wrong with them. They are just normal people, and the people who should feel ashamed are homophobic people.
“I fully realize that a person who stands for what I stand for, an activist, a gay activist, becomes the target or the potential target for a person who is insecure, terrified, afraid, or very disturbed with themselves.”
-Harvey Milk, on a tape he made to be played in the event of his assassination
Every one should stand for themselves and not care what other people think about who they are. Society has made it hard for all of us to be ourselves in which we have to make a change.
ReplyDeleteYes! Standing up for it is the most important action to really make the world a place that corresponds to our ideals. Ignorance is super tricky, because people think that non-action is indiferent, but it isn't, everything shows a message, and affects the world, even inactivity! To truly say that I have certain Ideals, means that I show them openly!
ReplyDeletei agree with you in the way that standing up for homophobic bullying can help people that are being discriminated.but we should not only stand up for them, also for everyone who is being discriminated
ReplyDeleteGreat quote by Harvey Milk. It's true, if a person is secure within, s/he will not bully.
